Few X-rated films delve this deeply into the sexual psychology of a young woman. Valerie, wonderfully portrayed by Annette Haven, was raped by a farmhand when she was a girl. Her mother labeled her a slut. Years later, married to a successful lawyer (John Leslie), she's still afraid of sex. She's so obsessed with the rape and her mother, the idea of cheap, trashy sex is what really turns her on. After a while, the fantasies become so overwhelming that she starts dressing up like a common street hooker in order to prowl around for sleazy dates. Later, she meets up with Jascinda, played with real class by Kay Parker, in her very first role in an adult movie; Jascinda who runs a high class cathouse, and Valeri/Annette starts works there afternoons, and the two get along famously.

Competently structured from a filmmaker's eye, the story unravels intriguingly and smoothly. The acting scenes are just setups for the sex, and they reveal the various aspects of Haven's motivation, both emotionally and sexually. Because the sex comes out of such a strong characterization, it's more intense because it seems so real. John Leslie, who finally has to force his frigid wife to have sex with him, is compelling.
